How large is her torque on the wheel, if the diameter of the bowl is 12cm? b.) How long would it take for the potter's wheel to stop if the only torque acting on it is due to the potter's hand? The initial angular velocity of the wheel is 1.6rev/s, and the moment of inertia of the wheel and the bowl is 0.11kg*m^2.

    2 torque = F r

    2 torque = (1.5)(0.12)

    torque = 0.09 Nm

    (b).

    angular acceleration,

    α = -torque/I

    0 = ω + α t

    0 = ω + (-torque/I) t

    0 = (1.6 * 2π) + (-0.09/ 0.11) t

    t = 12.2871 sec
