Belly button ring going sideways?

I got my bellybutton pierced back in August and it’s fully healed. But the thing is, whenever I do anything it goes sideways and I can’t figure out why. Is it because my skin is stretchy, maybe the piercing is crooked, or maybe it’s because I don’t have a completely flat stomach?

If anyone knows please let me know, I want to fix this

It doesn’t hurt me or anything, I just want to know why it won’t stay in place.

  • Your navel probably isn’t healed, they usually take up to a year to heal.

Sometimes piercings like navels, tongues, and surface piercings are more apt to migrate because they’re more comfortable in a different position. That might be what’s happening with yours, unless it’s always been crooked.

There’s not much you can do about it now, if it was pierced crooked sometimes you can straighten it a little bit by setting it straight then taping it over, but that’s not really good for a piercing, and that’s only if it’s just been pierced and you notice it’s a bit crooked.

You could always just take it out and let it heal, then going to get it pierced again.

Good luck with whatever you do, I’m sure it doesn’t look too bad <3

  • Sideways Belly Button Piercing

  • If you only got it done in August, chances are, it’s not completely healed yet. You need to give belly button piercings about 6 months to completely heal. While it may look healed on the outside, the inside of the wound is still healing itself

Do you have a circular ring or a barbell? Sometimes belly rings will "take" to one side or the other, and once it starts to do that, it’s pretty much permanent. It either has something to do with the way you were caring for it, the things you did while wearing it, or it could be that your belly button is just not anatomically correct for a piercing, and your body might be rejecting it.

Since it’s not fully healed yet, continue to clean it daily, even if it LOOKS really good, because you can’t see the wound on the inside. Keep doing sea salt soaks once a week, and go back to your piercer to see what the problem is with it taking sideways.

    Good luck, hun! 🙂

  • It takes longer then 4 months for a navel piercing to heal, so chances are it isn’t fully healed yet.

Has it always been sideways? If so it may have just been pierced crooked.

My lower one has migrated (moved itself in my body to a more comfortable spot) so it’s crooked. That may be what’s going on with yours too. As long as it’s not causing any pain or redness you should be fine.

Nothing you can really do about the migration. If it bothers you that much you could always take it out and get it re-pierced.

  • go the person who pierced it

or maybe you just have stretchy skin.

    if it irritates you, doctor.

  • depends on the ring. if its on the outerside it will go sideways. but go to the piercer and see what he/she can recommend.

  • the ring is probly just loose.
