  • looks like a deduction by department of education, for a preauthorized repayment of student loan, to the department of the tresurey, Think back, did you get a federal student loan? or if you're military did you use TA and fail a class? All payments to federal agencies are taken out and sent to department of tresury. Go to your bank and they can research and find the account that eft was applies to.

  • I've come across several cases of people being kidnapped around ATMs and being driven about and forced to take money out of other ATMs in the neighbourhood. It is a little publicised form of crime, but it certainly happens. If the cash was on its way, I would simply cover the machine and tuck cash and card surreptitiously into my clothing when they appeared and walk of purposefully away. If the transaction hadn't progressed very far when the person approached, I think that I would be inclined to act as though my card didn't work and invite the person concerned to go next. It might seem cowardly, but it would be prudent in the circumstances.

Well someone so close may not have the social skill or intelligence to appreciate sarcasm but how about turning to them and saying "How we gonna spend it then?"

  • Talk to your bank representative.
