Here’s a puzzle– 2 actors who seem oddly similar?

Colin Hanks, from the new cop comedy “The Good Guys”, distinctly reminds me of Sean Murray, who plays “Tim McGee” on the original “NCIS”. Mannerisms, similar facial structure, especially now that Sean has lost so much weight. Anybody know if the two are related?

Wow – that’s pretty cool info. Very 6 degrees of separation. How did you come by it so fast?

  • They do not seem to be related although a detailed genealogy study may reveal otherwise.

Sean Murray is the son of Craig Murray and Vivienne Bellisario and the stepson of David Bella’s.

Colin Hanks is the son of actors Tom Hanks and Samantha Lewes.

On a side note, Tom Hanks is a third cousin, four generations removed, of former U.S. President Abraham Lincoln. Their common ancestor is John Hanks (1680 – 1740), who was the great-great-grandfather of Lincoln, and the great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather of Tom Hanks. It is commonly (albeit incorrectly) reported that they are fourth cousins, four times removed, but Thomas Hanks (b. 1819) and Abraham Lincoln were both great-great-grandchildren of John Hanks, making them third cousins. Tom Hanks was Thomas Hanks’ great-great-grandson, making his relation to Abraham Lincolns four generations removed.

Tom is also related to Bill Cosby’s wife Camille O. Cosby (née Camille Olivia Hanks), as both share a biological lineage to Abraham Lincoln through his mother, Nancy Hanks.
