Im working on heat of combustion of methanol, ethanol, propanol and butanol and I have the j/g value for heat of combustion but i need to convert it in kj/mol. Help!

You need to know the molar mass of the substance in question.
For methanol it's 32.0420 g/mol
For ethanol it's 46.0687 g/mol
For propanol it's 60.0953 g/mol
For butanol it's 74.1220 g/mol
Starting with the heat of combustion in J/g, here's what you do.
X J/g x (1 kJ / 1000 J) x (molar mass / 1 mol)
Be sure to multiply and divide as indicated, or you won't get the correct result.
I hope that helps. Good luck!
