how do you solve 9x^2+21x-8=0?

i need help solving this if anyone could show me how that would be great!

1 Answer

  • Factor the equation first.

    9x^2 + 21x - 8 = 0 → (3x - 1) (3x + 8) = 0

    Set both factors to zero:

    (3x - 1) = 0

    (3x + 8) = 0

    Now solve for x:

    (3x - 1) = 0

    3x = 1

    x = 1/3

    (3x + 8) = 0

    3x = -8

    x = -(8/3) or - 2.6667

    Always plug the answers you get BACK into the equation as a check!

    Best of luck in your studies,
