    Jem gets a gun for Christmas. Atticus tells him he can shoot all the bluejays he wants, but to never kill a mockingbird as they cause no harm and just sing for us. There were two people who fit the mockingbird description: Tom Robinson who was innocent and Boo Radley who saved Scout's and Jem's lives. Just read the book and enjoy it from the perspective of a child telling the story.

  • sorry i don't know the page numbers. but i do know the context of the reference. atticus finch was explaining to scout that mockingbirds do nothing but make music. they do no harm. that is why it's a sin to kill a mockingbird.
