Gizmo Shop is actually a very good place to level up in KH1, since the Heartless comes wave by wave. They stop
coming after a while, but not before you fight a good 40 of them. You can get a lot of Experience and munny for killing them all!
Besides that, enter the Gizmo Shop and exit through the other door. Outside there is a ladder that leads to a higher ledge. From here, turn left and travel down the length of the brown-roofed building. There is a small hole that leads to the Third District. Before you go through, look to the left to see a treasure chest right on the ledge. Open this for a MYHTRIL SHARD. Now head through the hole to the Third District. Press R1 to lock onto an object in the corner. Another POSTCARD!
When you obtained the Thunder Spell, go back to Traverse Town, enter the Third District and look in the corner. You should see a pipe with a broken wire protruding from it. Zap this with your new Thunder spell and you should hear a musical chime. Now go to the Second District and enter the Gizmo Shop. As always, there is a boatload of enemies in here, so after you’ve gotten rid of them take a look around the room. You’ll notice that the small platforms have been raised, allowing you to reach the upper section of the Gizmo Shop. There are three switches up here, and when you step on all of them, you’ll hear another chime. Now drop down and wait until the clock stops. Examine it for 2 POSTCARDS. Mail these in the First District for a MEGALIXIR and an ORICHALCUM.
There is also once when you are asked to help Cid deliver Pooh’s book to Merlin, you can hear the Gizmo Shop’s bell ring. After delivering the book go to the Gizmo Shop and fight off the enemies here before exit through the other door and climb the ladder to the roof. Defeat the enemies here, and then use the Red Trinity Mark on the wall. Pull the rope inside three times to reveal the keyhole to Traverse Town. Sweet! Unfortunately, when you jump down, a familiar nemesis appears. It’s Guard Armor again! Level 21 is a fair level to be at for this fight. The battle starts out simple enough, but when you cause some damage, Guard Armor will suddenly transform into a different boss. Opposite Armor!
Gizmo shop is in the 2nd district. When you enter the 2nd district from the 1st district, you get 2 roads to go. One is left path which leads you to the hotel and the right path that leads you to the lower part of the 2nd district. Choose the left path and go towards the hotel but do not enter the hotel. Instead, go forward past the hotel until you reach a dead end. After that, turn right and you will see a door. That is the entrance of the Gizmo Shop where Sora can actually train there. The Traverse Town bell is actually directly above the Gizmo Shop. After you have entered the Gizmo Shop the way I have mentioned, go to the opposite side and you will find an exit door. Go outside and you will be in a very narrow alley with a ladder. Climb the ladder to the roof. Remember to equip as many abilities as possible, and to fill up everyone’s item slots. Also, equip Cure on a shortcut button of your choice. The battle starts out simple enough, but when you cause some damage, Guard Armor will suddenly transform into a different boss. Opposite Armor!
At the Gizmo shop there should be waves of heartless there for you to battle.
If you have already obtained the thunder spell, go to the third district and use thunder on the broken cable. Now go back to the Gizmo shop and the platforms should be working. Jump on one of the small platforms and get to the top. Step on each one of the “buttons” that you need to. Now go to the clock and examine it for 2 postcards!!
This is also where you go out, climb the ladder, defeat the swarm of heartless, use the red trinity when you get it, break through the wood, and ring the bell 3 times to open up the keyhole to Traverse Town.

I suppose you are locking Traverse Town now. Talk to Cid in the Accessory Shop. Go into the Second district. Jump down into the fountain. Turn Sora to his left immediately and have him go through the small door to the Alleyway. Defeat all of the heartless there. If you have unlocked the Red Trinity ability, go up to the metal bars where the water appears to be flowing. There is a red trinity under the water. Use it and swim through to talk to Leon. You should get an item from him. I think it was called Earthshine but I am not 100% sure at the moment. Now go back to Cid and talk to him. Cid will tell you to go deliver a book to someone. From here, go to the third district, jump down the stairs, turn Sora to his left and walk down to the door where you should see a door with a fire symbol on it. Use fire magic on the door. Now go through the door and hop across the rocks to the small island. Enter to see a neat cutscene and meet Merlin. Talk to Merlin and the Fairy Godmother. Now, leave back through the door and the fire door’s entrance. Go out to third district to see another great cutscene. Now go to the Small House in third district near the second district’s entrance. You will see yet another great cutscene. Now go back to the first district and go save the game. Now go back into the second district and go towards the Gizmo shop. Climb the ladder in the back of the shop and beat all of the heartless on the roof. After doing that, use the red trinity on the piece of wood. Ring the bell 3 times to reveal the keyhole. Load Sora up on items and equipment and go towards the keyhole at the fountain. The Guard Armor boss will come. Defeat it. It will then reverse its armor. Defeat it and lock the keyhole. Hope this helps and good luck! Here is a checklist: 1. beat Destiny Islands 2. beat Traverse Town 3. Locked Wonderland 4. beat Olympus Coliseum 5. Locked Deep Jungle 6. Locked Traverse Town 7. Locked Agrabah 8. Beat Monstro (can’t ever lock it) 9. Locked Atlantica 10. Locked Halloween Town 11. Locked Neverland 12. Beaten Hollow Bastion the first time 13. Saw Kairi in the cutscene after beating it, not locked yet 14. Now you need to go back and lock Hollow Bastion
