– Pain rating out of 10 for a triple forward helix piercing

– Healing time?

I want to get this piercing/s eventually in the future but I’m concerned about the pain and the chance of infection?

  • Have you had any other cartilage piercings? Think of that times 3. Alternatively, think of a distinctly beefed-up lobe piercing times 3. A lot of people are going for the triple helix these days, which suggests it’s not so painful you wouldn’t be able to handle it.

The triple forward helix can look very nice, the main concern I would have with it is that “everyone’s getting it” and it might look a bit too 2013 in a few years time. On the other hand, that’s easily fixed, take the earrings out.

I don’t think the risk of infection is greater than for any other ear piercing but getting an infection would be unpleasant. The best ways to avoid an infection are to make sure you keep your hair clean and off the new piercings, don’t handle the earrings except when you are giving them their twice-daily saline soaks and make sure your hands are clean first.

Have the piercing done by a reputable studio, never let anyone near you with a piercing gun.

  • If you’re really worried about pain, get them done at different times. The first one feels like nothing compared to the third. I got them done all at the same time and my ear was already irritated so of course the third hurt a lot more. Just soak the piercing in salt water (non-iodized salt) for about 5-10 minutes 2-3 times a day. for at least 2 and a half months. Do not touch it a lot or sleep on it, cause then you will get keloids, and those aren’t pretty. They aren’t very hard to take away, but they do take a while to go away, you just soak the piercing in salt water 2-3 times a day until it goes away. Same thing. The time you can switch out the jewelry is 6 months.

the first piercing was about a 5, second was about a 6 and the third was like an 8.

And i can’t take pain well, but i also am not a sissy. I am around the middle

  • I went in to the piercing place to get my triple forward done but the piercer told me I should just get a double because it would make it easier for my ear to cope and therefore heal better. Second day in they barely hurt at all but they were bleeding pretty bad. I don’t do very well with my aftercare, but I’ve never had a keloid or anything like that. Get two done, and get them to do one after the other instead of doing one and putting the jewelry in and doing another, that way it’s over and done with. Hurts about at 8 out of 10, worse than my conch, snug, regular helix etc. Worth it though!

I have the triple forward helix and my bellybutton. I thought my bellybutton was like a 3-10. My helix hurt pretty bad im not going to lie. Especially the bottom one, the farther it went up, the less it hurt. It wasn’t bad afterwards though, just during. I had a little throbbing but that was it. Also, I havn’t had any problems with it, it’s sore some days, and crusty, but that’s about it. I’m glad I got it though. I love it! 🙂

  • Out of ten the piercing hurt at about a 9 it hurt really really bad! The Healing time for me was 6 months before i could change the jewelry. The chance of infection depends on how well you clean it . If you clean it 5 times a day with h20 ocean it should be fine. Just remember the actual piercing hurts alot so does after care.

  • the piercing probably hurt a 1 out of 10 lol not at all. It felt like someone pinched me. Thats all. No big deal. Clean them with salt that they should provide either by spray or in a packet. My ear didnt bleed it looked great right away no swelling or anything. Getting them out is a pain in the behind though. Ah well *shrug*
