What are doxins (I don’t think I spelled it right) and dachshunds?

Of course they’re dogs, but my sister said they’re the same thing, and doxin is the correct name. But everywhere I see, they’re called dachshunds. And I thought they were two different types of dogs. Someone please relieve me from my confusion.

I’m pretty sure a doxin is a real thing because my friend has one and that is what she says it is called. It looks a lot like a dachshund so that’s why I’m asking if its the same thing.

I am more confused than ever…these answers are all mixed…

I’m not asking about “doxie”, I’ve never heard that name before. I’m asking about “doxin”.

  • You are your spelling of “Dachshund” and the correct pronounciation is “Daks-hoond”. It translates into

    the German “Dachs” = Badger and “Hund” = hound.

    Badger hound.

    Usually people will shorten the name/nickname it Dachsie. What your talking about is the same breed, just “Doxin” is spelled wrong.

  • It is spelt Dachshund

    Its a “wiener dog”

    Doxin is a made up word.

  • Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I’d suggest you https://biturl.im/aUAQX

    A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

  • Dachshunds is the correct name. It is German and pronounced Doxin

  • A DOXIE is an abbreviation, the dachshund is it’s real name, however they are called wieners, sausage dogs, & dachsies too. Don’t let a name fool you.

    Dachs = badger

    Hund = Hound

  • Dachshund is the correct spelling. There is no such breed as a Doxin. That is just Dachshund spelled incorrectly. Your sister is wrong.

  • Doxin is not the correct name….

    dachshund is correct.

    It’s pronounced Dahks-und

    (The H pretty much puts itself in, if you say in fast =])

  • I’ve been in dogs for over 8 years, and have never heard of a “doxin”. Sounds like your sister is either confused or pulling your leg.
