What I mean was or What I meant is?

I find this confusing.every time I use this type of verb. In general, I am having problem using present tense and past tense in writing although I know that present is "now" and past is "past" (already happened)

Thanks in advance =)

  • mean is present, so you would say "what i mean is" and meant is past, so you would say "what i meant was"

  • What I Meant

Purpose has intent, while essence is a quality. Meaning is not a universal standard, but how you interpret something.

  • The answer is: What I meant was
