What is Class Evidence?

We all know that crimes are primarily solved through the presentation of forensic evidence. We always look for the fingerprint, the source of DNA and other individual characteristic type evidence. However, we do encounter class characteristic evidence in nearly all cases. Discuss what class evidence is, how valuable it is and how does it become more valuable during the investigation when additional facts are developed

THIS IS A QUESTION THAT MY PROFESSOR ASKED THAT I DONT KNOW WHERE TO START WITH. IF YOU CAN HELP THAT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU CAN PROVIDE A LINK THAT WOULD BE SUPER 🙂 THANKS

  • myspace… up there is right. But “we all know” crimes are solved primarily though forensic evidence? Not even close. Most crimes are solved by testimonial evidence and through admissions and/or confessions obtained during interviews and interrogations. Forensice evidence, in the real non-CSI NY world anway, actually solves very few crimes. Even in the high profile murder cases it usually just gives supporting evidence, rarely does it truly “solve” the case.

  • Class Evidence

  • Class evidence is evidence that can be linked to a group of people rather than individual evidence which can only be linked to one person. Although class evidence can help solve cases, its not guaranteed to solve it. An example of class evidence is if a shoe print is left behind and the only thing they can make of it is the shoe size or make, that would be a class characteristic since many other people may have that same shoe size and make. i hope I helped! =]

  • Yes i could…i used to work at a youth ranch for disturbed youth and i had to read all their case files before even working with them…talk about hard! Those case files were worse than anything I had ever heard because it was real….horrible, horrible things and these kids were as young as 8 up to 17…that class is a class even though I am sure the things you learn are about real things that happened to someone….the hard part is working with the victims of these crimes…it’ll be ok!
