depends, what do you mean by god mode, usually means invincible in creative mod you can fly too

God mode is a state of invincibility in games whereby your character cannot die from damage or injury. In Minecraft, activating god mode in “Minecraft” will help lift your frustration or provide a good laugh if you find the game too challenging or you simply wish to change your gaming experience.

There isn’t a way to get god mode through your client. Damage is run by the server. So an admin/owner/op had given him god mode.
