What’s 1% of $10 billion?

I just got done watching National Treasure and at the end of the movie they got 1% of approx. $10 billion. I was never good with percentages in school and I’m curious about how much money Ben/Abigail/Riley received. Can anyone help me out?

  • $ 10 billion = $ 10,000,000,000 dollars

    1 % of $ 10,000,000,000 = 0.01 (10,000,000,000) = $100,000,000

They got a $100 million dollars. I wish I found that treasure.

  • 1% means 1/100 or 1 part of something that has been divided into 100 parts.

    So,1% of 10 billion is 10,000,000,000 / 100 * 1 which is equal to 100,000,000.

  • percent means “per one hundred”,

so x% means x parts out of 100

    1%=1 out of 100=1/100=0.01

When they say “x% of a number” it means “x%*that number”.

    Thus 1% of 10 billion

    = 1%*10,000,000,000

    =0.01*10,000,000,000

    =100,000,000

    =100 million

  • 1 % of 10,000,000,000 =

    10,000,000,000 (1 / 100) =

    10,000,000,000 / 100 =

    100,000,000 = 10^8 = 100 million dollars

    *******

  • 1% = 1/100 = 0.01

    so 1% 0f 1 billion = 0.01X 1000,000,000

    = 10,000,000 (ten million)

  • 100,000,000, just multiply the number by .01 or whatever percent. You always move the decimal place two places to the left. So if it is 1 percent it would be .01.

  • Work: 1%=.01 of = x (multiply)

    .01 X 10,000,000,000 = 100,000,000
