What’s a brindle doberman pinscher?

My boyfriend wants a female brindle doberman for christmas and i’ve been looking for brindle but i can’t find it. he said if i couldn’t find it just get a black one. Is brindle the same as black & tan together ? What all colors & mix of colors do dobermans come in ?

  • Brindle is like zerba stripes on the coat. Dobie’s don’t have this type of pattern in it’s line.

  • Dobermans officially come in four colors: black, red (which is actually brown), blue, and Isabella which is a fawn color. UNofficially (not accepted by the DPCA or the AKC), there is the so-called “white” Doberman which is a cream colored dog with blue eyes. All of the colors have rust or tan markings. I have never heard of a brindle Dobe. Do you think maybe your GF has her breeds mixed up, or said Doberman but meant something else? Because if there is a brindle Dobe, the DPCA folks must be tearing out their hair and screaming by now.

Brindle is usually a brown with sort of tiger-y stripes of black through it. Some brindles are lighter and some are “reverse brindle” which is the black with tiger-y brown stripes through it. There are many brindle Pit Bull terriers.

BTW no breeder worth a damn will have a litter of puppies ready to go at Christmas.

Christmas time is too busy to give a puppy as a gift. It’s not fair to the puppy.

A dog should not be added to a home unless all family members are in agreement that it’s welcome.

  • Dobermans do not come in brindle. This is brindle http://www.lexysdanes.com/aboutdanes/brindle.jpg

Dobermans come in Black, Red, Blue and Isabella (Fawn) all with tan or rust markings. Don’t ever get a “white” doberman. They are partial albinos and full of heath and temperament issues and it is not an acceptable color for Dobermans. Also never buy from anyone trying to sell any of the standard colors as “rare” none of the colors are rare but responsible breeders don’t intentionally breed for the dilute colors (blue and fawn) because of the high incidence of color dilution alopitia associated with them.

Any dog that appeared to be a Doberman with a brindle pattern would have to be a mixed breed dog.

On a side note no responsible breeder is going to sell you a puppy as a gift. Your boyfriend will have to be involved in the approval process. I would recommend starting your search here http://dpca.org/BreedRef/index_html.htm but make sure you research the breed first Dobermans are defiantly not the breed for everyone and most defiantly shouldn’t be purchased just because you like the “look” of the breed.

  • A brindle Doberman is a mutt :)…..

The gene for brindle does not exist in the breed, so if you (or he) ever met anyone claiming they had one, what they had was likely mixed with Boxer, Pit Bull, Great Dane, etc. It’s genetically impossible for a purebred Dobe to be brindle.

They come in 4 colors. Black, red, fawn, and blue….ALL with tan or rust-colored “points” on the face, legs and chest.

This site has pictures of all 4 colors, plus some info on the color genetics of the breed:

  • Brindle- http://www.catseyecatahoulas.com/IMG_4584.gif

Combination of yellow and black hairs arranged in almost a stripe-like pattern

Doberman Pinschers do not come in brindle

Maybe he would like a brindle catahoula leopard dog

  • Brindle is a marking that looks like stripes. Its seen in breeds like boxers, pits, plott hounds, greyhounds.

Dobermans do not come in Brindle..

They come in Black and Rust, Red and Rust, Blue and Rust, or Fawn and Rust.. some come in white, but that’s a genetic mutation and they often have health problems.

Many, many breeds! Standard and common in that breed: Boxer Great Dane Bullmastiff Greyhound Plott Dutch Shepherd Boston Terrier Akita Borzoi Bull Terrier* Cardigan Welsh Corgi Miniature Bull Terrier* Whippet Staffordshire Bull Terrier* American Staffordshire Terrier* Cairn Terrier Standard but less common in that breed: Chihuahua Basenji Dachshund Border Collie There are other breeds that are known to carry the gene in some individuals, but it is not standard and is usually masked by other more dominant genes: Doberman Pinscher Rottweiler Labrador Retriever I’m sure many others… *breeds often or sometimes included in the classification of “pit bull”

  • a brindle doberman would be a mixed breed

likely a brindle apbt or boxer or some other breed that comes in brindle, and a doberman

  • Dobermans do not come in brindle color patterns. The accepted colors are black, fawn, red and blue.
