Why do they call it a Tailor made double play?

what does the tailor have to do with it?

  • they are saying the ball was hit hard enough at an infielder to give them plenty of time but not too hard as to make the play difficult.

    Tailors make the pieces fit together perfectly.

  • Because, much like a hand-stitched article of clothing made by a tailor, it's seamless and a perfect fit.
